Hand your reports to Claude Code and get back an application you can install on a user's desk. We give you the starting point; it does the rest.
What you get
A working application, not a sample. Three real reports are already in it, so it runs the moment it is installed.
A menu entry per report
Your reports listed down the left, by number, exactly the way the Report Writer has listed them for 25 years.

Date ranges and tick lists — pick your products, your customer groups, your reps — with All and None, and a Find box for the long ones.

Run one of your Connector's sync profiles from inside the app, then run the report again.
Adding the fourth report is adding a file
One file per report. It says what to select, what it may be filtered by, and what its columns are — and that is all. No screen to change, no menu to edit, nothing to rebuild.
- Written for Claude Code. The instructions ship inside the source. Point it at the folder, show it your report, and it writes the file.
- Or write it yourself. It is plain, readable text — a query and a list of columns. Copy the closest of the three and change it.
- Say what a column is — money, quantity, percent, date — and the alignment, the decimals, the totals line and the Excel formatting all follow.
- A total percentage comes out right. The totals line adds the figures first and works the percentage out from those, rather than adding up the percentages down the page.
- Check it without opening the app. One command tells you in plain English what is wrong with a report file.
It replaces the Report Writer
The DataWise ProActive Report Writer has run customers' reports for over 25 years — log in, pick a report, set the filters, print it. This does the same job on the data your Connector keeps on your own PC, and it hands the writing of new reports to you.
The Report Writer is still here and still supported — see the reporting page. Nothing stops working because this exists.
Safe to hand over
- It cannot write to anything. Every database is opened read-only and a report is allowed to do one thing: read. Three separate checks enforce it.
- The database belongs to the Connector. Your reports read it; nothing here changes its shape, so a Connector update never breaks them.
- Filters are values, never text pasted into a query. What a user types can never reach the database as an instruction.
- Every file is stamped with the version it came from and the date, so support can answer "which version are you on?" about a file you have changed yourself.
